UL Lafayette Civil Engineering Students Win First Place at LTRC Senior Design Competition

Students from the Civil and Environmental Engineering program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette earned first place in the 2025 Senior Design Project Presentation Award presented by the LouisianaTransportation Research Center (LTRC) Foundation.The award recognized the students’ outstanding presentation and design work for their Youngsville Drinking Water Plant project. The senior design project challenged students to apply engineering principles, technical analysis, and practical design considerations to develop a comprehensive solution addressing real-world infrastructure needs.

The LTRC Senior Design competition highlights innovative projects from engineering programs across Louisiana and encourages students to demonstrate both technical expertise and professional communication skills. The UL Lafayette team’s presentation stood out for its strong technical approach, clear design methodology, and practical application to community infrastructure.

Winning first place reflects the strength of the Civil and Environmental Engineering program at UL Lafayette and the dedication of its students and faculty mentors. Senior design projects serve as a culminating academic experience, allowing students to integrate knowledge gained throughout their coursework into real engineering solutions.
