The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Faculty has recognized Nick Simon as the Outstanding Civil Engineering Graduate for Spring 2025, honoring his exceptional academic achievements, leadership, and service to the community.

Graduating with a 3.82 overall GPA and a 3.92 College of Civil Engineering GPA, Simon has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence throughout his undergraduate career. He has been an active member of the UL American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), serving as President for 2024-2025 and contributing to the Steel Bridge Team from 2023 to 2025. His dedication to the profession is further reflected in his memberships in the Louisiana Engineering Society, Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Simon’s leadership extends beyond academics. A devoted member of Ragin’ Cajun Catholics, he has attended weekly Bible studies and volunteered at organizations such as St. Joseph’s Diner, the Christian Service Center, and "Feeding the Hungry" service events. His early commitment to service was evident in high school, where he was selected as a S.A.L.T. Team Retreat Leader at St. Thomas More Catholic High School.
In recognition of his outstanding performance, Simon has been awarded multiple scholarships, including the University of Louisiana Live Oak Scholarship, ASCE/Chi Epsilon Scholarship, and E. Raymond Desormeaux Scholarship.

After graduation, Simon will pursue an MBA online at UL Lafayette while working at a civil engineering firm in Lafayette to gain professional experience. With an entrepreneurial mindset, his long-term goal is to establish his own business. He also looks forward to marrying his longtime girlfriend and starting a family in Lafayette, where he plans to build his future.
We are proud to recognize Nick's academic excellence, leadership, and dedication which have undoubtably led to him becoming our outstanding graduate of the semester.
