Civil Engineering Students and Faculty Honored for Sustainable Development Research at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette

Graduate students and faculty at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Civil Engineering Department have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to sustainable development. Their work, aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addresses critical global and regional challenges in infrastructure, road safety, and sustainable materials.

Faculty Awardees:

Dr. Emad Habib, Professor in the Civil Engineering department, has been awarded for his research on Fostering Flood-Resilient Communities: Integrating Hydrodynamic Modeling, Socio-Economic Risk Assessment, and Inclusive Communication.

Dr. Mohammad Jamal Khattak, Professor in the Civil Engineering department, has been recognized for his research on Development of Green Construction Material Using Locally Available Rice and Sugarcane Industrial Byproducts.

Student Awardees:

Farooq Azam Khanzada, a Ph.D. student in Systems Engineering, has been awarded for his research on Does Automated Enforcement at Signalized Intersections Truly Enhance Safety?  under the guidance of Dr. Xiaoduan Sun.

Sherbaz Khan, a Ph.D. student in Systems Engineering, has been recognized for his research on Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Hot Mix Asphalt Mixtures for Durable Louisiana Roads, supervised by Dr. Mohammad Jamal Khattak.

Atif Khan, a Master’s student in Civil Engineering, has been awarded for his research on Utilization of Sugarcane Bagasse Ash and Rice Husk Ash in Sustainable Construction Bricks, supervised by Dr. Mohammad Jamal Khattak.

Waseem Akhtar Khan, a Master’s student in Civil Engineering, has been recognized for his research on Evaluating Louisiana’s TIM and Analyzing Factors Impacting Crash-Related Incident Clearance Time, supervised by Dr. Milhan Moomen.
