UL Lafayette Civil and Environmental Engineering Student Nelly A. Ankrah Receives Two Prestigious Engineering Scholarships

Civil and Environmental engineering student Nelly A. Ankrah from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has been recognized with two prestigious scholarships from leading professional engineering organizations in the region. Ankrah was selected as a recipient of the Melissa Young Doucet, P.E. Memorial Scholarship from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Baton Rouge Branch. The scholarship is awarded to students attending an ABET-accredited engineering program who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to female students who are active members of their university’s ASCE student chapter. She was formally recognized for this achievement during the Engineers’ Week Luncheon hosted by the ASCE Baton Rouge Branch in February in Baton Rouge.Ankrah also received the DSITE Scholarship from the Deep South Institute of Transportation Engineers (DSITE). This scholarship recognizes students pursuing careers in transportation engineering, planning, or related fields, with recipients selected based on a combination of academic merit and financial need. She was honored at the organization’s Winter Meeting held in February in Pearl, Mississippi.

These awards highlight Ankrah’s dedication to academic excellence and her commitment to the field of civil and transportation engineering. Recognition from both professional organizations reflects the impact of her work and involvement within the engineering community.
