Critical Courses

The timely completion of the sequence of math (MATH) and basic science (CHEM and PHYS) courses leading up to the engineering mechanics (ENGR) courses is very important. It is also important that the prerequisites for all courses, in general, be included in the planning and scheduling for each semester. A C-grade or better is required in a prerequisite course to enroll in the follow-up course.

As quickly as possible, the first calculus course (MATH 270) should be successfully completed to enroll in physics, PHYS 201. Upon completion of the PHYS 201, you can enroll in the first engineering mechanics course, ENGR 211, Statics, followed by Strength of Materials (ENGR 219) and Fluid Mechanics (ENGR 304) in following semester. These courses are fundamental to most of the civil engineering courses and are requirements in other courses.
