Courses

The Master of Science in civil engineering focuses on three specialized areas: transportation and pavement materials; water resources and environmental engineering; and structural engineering. Our courses available reflect those specializations, but we encourage you to speak to faculty members about other areas for your thesis or independent study, which can include hydraulics, engineering mechanics, coastal engineering, construction materials, environmental engineering, structures, and transportation engineering, amonth others.

Our course subjects include:

  • environmental engineering with experimental analysis
  • hydrology
  • structural mechanics
  • systems design
  • highway engineering
  • wastewater treatment
  • advanced reinforced concrete design
  • bridge design
  • mechanics of sediment transport
  • dynamics and matrix analysis of structures
  • structural systems design
  • plates and shells
  • advanced desigh of steel structures
  • foundation design
